Porto Cervo villa rental
Luxury, glamour and design, but also sky-blue sea and nature that embraces rounded shapes and architecture, truly inspired by the mistral winds. This is all that comes to mind when we think of Porto Cervo, the very heart of the Costa Smeralda. We are not overstating the case when we say that we are talking about the most famous tourist destination in Sardinia and probably also the most desired.
But what is its true story? What are the most exclusive attractions, beaches and Porto Cervo villa rentals? Read on below to find out!

Its origins
Surprising to many, Porto Cervo does not have a history of a hundred or a thousand years like other places in Sardinia, but is a very young place, founded just sixty years ago. Legend says that it was the Ishmaelite prince Karim Aga Khan who fell in love with this stretch of coastline in the north-east of Sardinia, precisely in the Gallura area. Until then, this practically wild and unbuilt land was owned by families of local shepherds and farmers. So, having abandoned the name 'Monti di Mola', the new village took the name 'Porto Cervo', precisely because of the shape of the natural harbour that resembles that of a deer.
The intervention of His Majesty and what would later become the Consorzio Costa Smeralda laid the foundations for a housing, touristic and, above all, economic development that still today contributes to representing the entire island in the world. We have also talked about the origins of the destination Costa Smeralda in our article.

Porto Cervo things to do
Quiet by day and lively by night, Porto Cervo's two souls offer entertainment and recreation for all tastes (and therefore all the family).
If you have a sporting soul, you cannot resist trying the thrill of playing golf at the prestigious Pevero Golf Club, considered one of the best 50 courses in the world and whose peculiarity lies in the fascinating landscape that forms its background. Whether you want to attend courses with professional athletes or simply rent the course for a few hours, or relax in the Club House, here you have the opportunity to spend an unusual day even on holiday.
It is impossible to talk about Porto Cervo without referring to the majestic and luxurious yachts and mega-yachts moored at Porto Cervo Marina, a real attraction for thousands of curious dreamers. One of the best-equipped ports in the Mediterranean not only for the high-level services it offers, but also because, being well sheltered from currents, it is a safe mooring point.
One of the most famous attractions in the Porto Cervo town is a colourful open-air shopping centre, called precisely 'Promenade du Port'. This is a permanent exhibition (throughout the summer) of prestigious pieces of art, design and fashion. Everything is complemented by a series of gastronomic proposals to discover local cuisine and fusion experiments by starred chefs. During the summer nights, the performances and exhibitions organised by the Promenade further enrich Porto Cervo's entertainment offer.
If you are an architecture lover, our suggestion is to visit the Porto Cervo church Stella Maris, located on the promontory overlooking the village. Built in Mediterranean style, completely covered in white and with a curvilinear design, it was one of the very first buildings of the Costa Smeralda.

The Porto Cervo beaches
Porto Cervo is strategically located along the coast, since whichever direction you decide to go, you will easily reach the most enchanting beaches in the area.
The first beach, in the direction of Baia Sardinia and Palau, is Cala Granu. A small, reserved cove set between granite boulders and green shrubs that set the backdrop for its turquoise waters. Both a public beach and a well-equipped establishment are available. Continuing northwards along the coast is the beach of Liscia di Vacca: golden-coloured sand and an extent of emerald green sea, perfectly sheltered from the winds and therefore ideal for strong mistral days (which never fails in Sardinia).
Let's change direction, towards Golfo Aranci and Olbia, leading to the Pevero bay, with its two 'sister' beaches of Piccolo and Grande Pevero. As their names suggest, the former is smaller and more private, while the latter is larger and more spacious, but both are endowed with an enviable beauty.
We continue southwards and find the coastal stretch between the Spiaggia del Principe (Prince's Beach) and the luxurious village of Cala di Volpe. It is here that we find the Costa Smeralda's most famous beaches, the ones you may have already heard about or seen in hundreds of pictures. But words will never be enough to describe such enchanting views and panoramas, which is why the beaches that should not be missed on your Porto Cervo holiday are: Romazzino beach, Cala Capriccioli and La Celvia. The choice is yours!

The Porto Cervo villas
The first villas in Porto Cervo and surroundings were designed by outstanding names in 1960s architecture, such as Jaques and Savin Couelle, Luigi Vietti and Michele Busiri Vici, who created the unique style of the Costa Smeralda. These buildings were to be a refuge from the outside world, an oasis of privacy perfectly integrated and hidden in the vegetation of the hills around Porto Cervo. Arches, irregular lines and shapes, porthole windows offering a precious view of the sea, and then wood, stone, white walls: the aim was to create an essential design that reflected the environment.
Our portfolio of Porto Cervo villa rentals includes some examples of the splendid architecture of the Costa Smeralda. Our suggestions are:
- Villa Naytiri: Luxury villa for rent in Sardinia facing the sea. We are in Pantogia, a location of prestige and at the same time privacy, while remaining a few steps away from the mundanity of Porto Cervo. The villa's ample spaces are arranged on two communicating floors, which can comfortably accommodate up to 10 persons. Outside, there is a panoramic terrace with a large table in front of a splendid sea view and a private infinity pool.
- Villa Esmar: the arches and white walls that have made the Smeralda style easily recognisable are perfectly reproduced in this elegant villa for rent on the Pevero Bay. Outside there is a spacious, rustic-style veranda and a fabulous swimming pool with sea view. Inside, 4 double rooms and 4 bathrooms can easily accommodate groups of up to 8 guests.
- Villa Larimar: located in the middle of the countryside of Cala di Volpe, but still only a few minutes away from the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Smeralda, this beautiful villa houses a bright living room finely furnished and connected to the panoramic terrace with sea view. A total of 4 bedrooms, two of which with en-suite bathroom, complete the interior. Surrounding the villa is lots and lots of greenery and a refreshing private pool.
- Villa Cercueil: beautiful luxury villa in Porto Cervo, specifically in the location of Pantogia. Its private pool enjoys a prestigious view of the deep blue sea of the Gulf of Pevero and is set among Sardinian stone and granite. Inside, natural, candid colours add a touch of elegance in each of the 3 bedrooms.
