Porto Cervo is an internationally renowned tourist center, which does not need any introduction. It is one of the most exclusive and renowned touristic towns in the Mediterranean, as well as the main attraction of the elegant Costa Smeralda. The glamorous Gallurese village is a destination for wealthy travellers, business magnates, show biz and sports personalities, politicians and international jet-setters.
This section contains the most exclusive and prestigious villas for rent in Porto Cervo and its surroundings, from which it will be easy to discover the glittering village, built around a natural bay.
The absolute flagship of luxury summer holidays, Porto Cervo represents an architectural masterpiece on the island and worldwide. Such beauty is set in a breathtakingly setting. In this corner of North West Sardinia, nature has shown no reserve in handing out amazing landscapes. Porto Cervo is one of several coastal localities in the Gallurese municipality of Arzachena, the administrative capital of the Costa Smeralda, like the charming Cannigione and Baja Sardinia.
Prince Ishmaelite Karim Aga Khan IV, enchanted by the beauty of the coastline, bought it in the 1960s. He then commissioned a team of world-renowned architects to develop a unique and recognisable architectural style. They created the Smeralda style, which characterises Porto Cervo's luxury villas and resorts, all perfectly camouflaged in the Mediterranean maquis and integrated into the natural landscape. By following strict stylistic canons, they succeeded in respecting the surrounding nature. Thus was born one of the leading and legendary destinations for elite tourism, which is still today acclaimed and visited by thousands of international travellers. The sinuous Smeralda buildings take their inspiration from nature and from the historical stazzi of Gallura: rural stone constructions from which shapes and materials have been borrowed. A striking example of this unique style is the white Stella Maris church, designed by architect Michele Busiri Vici, built on the hill overlooking the entire Porto Cervo marina.
During the holiday season, Porto Cervo welcomes dozens of super and mega yachts, belonging to wealthy ship-owners from all over the world, which leave visitors strolling along the quay in awe. There are two prestigious harbours in Porto Cervo: the Porto Vecchio, and the Nuovo Porto Turistico.
The Old Port dates back to the 1960s, to the first village core founded by the Aga Khan. During the summer, this area hosts various events, exhibition stands and luxury shops.
The New Marina, on the other hand, dates back to the 1980s. With around seven hundred berths, it is one of the largest equipped marinas in the Mediterranean. The port hosts the headquarters of the prestigious YCCS - Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, one of the most important sailing clubs in the world, which organises international regattas such as the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta.
Porto Cervo hosts many other social and sporting events, also thanks to the presence of one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the Mediterranean: the Pevero Golf Club. Emerald green portions of the flawless course are visible from various points on the Costa Smeralda, in particular from Grande Pevero and Cala di Volpe.
The centre of Porto Cervo is situated higher than the port and is a labyrinth of alleyways, small squares and boutiques of the most renowned designers. It is easy to get lost in such a labyrinth of luxury. Around this core and in the hills around Porto Cervo are the restaurants of top chefs, super-luxury resorts and nightclubs attended by the stars of the moment. All watched by security and personal bodyguards.
Porto Cervo can be compared to a brand, marked by the wonderful beaches nearby, naturalistic pearls of immeasurable beauty.
In the proximity of the luxurious village are some of the most beautiful beaches in the world: in honour of His Highness Aga Khan IV, we mention the marvellous Spiaggia del Principe, so precious to him; not far from it, close to the luxury hotel of the same name, is the superb Romazzino beach; going back along the panoramic road, Cala di Volpe, with the top hotel in the Mediterranean: the super-luxury hotel that bears the same name; a short distance away is the pearl of Liscia Ruja beach; another magnificent white beach is the wonderful Grande Pevero, with its peculiar granite rocks sculpted by the weather; the nearby beach of Piccolo Pevero is smaller in size than its twin, but no less fascinating; the small peninsula of Capriccioli, easily reachable from Cala di Volpe, with no less than three dreamy coves set in the Gallura granite, is also worth a visit.
