The archaeological park of Nora, just a few minutes from the center of Pula away, is one of the most important archaeological sites in Sardinia and the entire Mediterranean. At Capo Pula there are the ruins of the ancient city of Nora: the first Phoenician city on the island, dating back to the eighth century BC, which later became a Punic and Roman settlement. In 1889 a Phoenician “tophet” and the temple of the goddess Tanit were unearthed, as well as the famous stele of Nora, kept in the archaeological museum of Cagliari. The stele, one of the oldest documents bearing a Phoenician engraving ever found in the West, bears the name "Sardinia" or "Sardus Pater" for the first time, depending on the interpretation of the various linguists who translated it.
There are also ruins of ancient baths, magnificent remains of mosaics, a superb amphitheater with about 1000 seats, where nowadays the “Night of the Poets” festival takes place.
Not far from the Nora ruins, there is the suggestive Romanesque church dedicated to St. Efisio. It rises in the place of martyrdom of the holy warrior celebrated every 3rd of May.
Near the ancient city is the beach of Nora, with golden sand and an incredibly clean and transparent sea. To the west of it we find the beautiful coast of Santa Margherita di Pula, with its white beaches bathed by an emerald sea and bordered by a huge pine forest that purifies the air. Santa Margherita is known all over the world for the presence of super luxury resorts. Proceeding eastwards from the archaeological site, not far from the town of Pula, we find the wonderful beach of su Guventeddu, with fine sand, an enchanting sea with shades of fair green and blue, and a very shallow seabed ideal for families with children. There are refreshment points and beach equipment rentals.
The Is Cannoneris and Pixinamanna forest complexes are also beautiful, with unique fauna and vegetation. The nearby lagoon of Nora is also an important habitat for local birdlife.
